Primary purpose

Under the direction of the head cook and superintendent, the food service assistant will assist in all aspects of DB-TC food service.

Qualifications

The assistant cook must:

-Meet criminal history background check requirements

-Meet certification and training requirements for MI public school food service providers

-Demonstrate a positive, hard-working attitude

-Hold a high school diploma (preferred)

Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. The kitchen assistant will:

-Be a friendly, positive presence in the kitchen/lunchroom

-Assist in preparing and serving breakfast and lunch daily

-Assist with cleaning kitchen/lunchroom area as needed

-Wash and manage dishes

-Sub for other food service staff, as needed

Physical requirements

The kitchen assistant must be able to:

-Repeatedly lift/carry heavy objects

-Sit/Stand/Walk for extended periods of time

-Bend/Squat/Reach/Kneel/Twist as needed

Terms of employment

-School year (~9 months)

-Wages according to negotiated contract 

-PTO: according to negotiated contract (pro-rated based on hours)
